Hotel Fortune

The hotel is excellent. We thought that for such a cheap price we could only get a modest budget. no. the hotel is extremely comfortable, modern, beautiful, clean. I travel very often, this is the first hotel where for breakfast (in addition to 10 types of salami and ham and various cheeses, sausages, hot dogs, eggs and salad) they offered raw salmon cut into thin slices. Excellent breakfast. The hotel looks modest from the outside, don't be put off by that detail. Parking is free.

The hotel is attached to a venue, called Platin, for wedding receptions etc. and there was an event on for both our evenings, but we were not disturbed. Both evenings, the road up to the hotel and a narrow parallel lane were packed with cars for the events. About 200 cars each evening. We were parked in the hotel courtyard without any problem. The hotel seems new and the room was very good. Reception was very friendly, and we were able to use the coffee machine in the breakfast area for tea and coffee. The coffee machine takes 2.50 in the slot for coffee but the hot water, tea, milk, and sugar were free. The hotel is very handy for the tram into town. The station is about 500 metres away so easy walking distance. Buy a ticket on the tram for 3.20 single using the machine (contactless) in the carriage. If you want a quick breakfast there is a good bakery about 30 yards away selling croisant etc. and coffee. It is open 04:00 to 10:00 but not Sunday.

It's out of the city so less expensive but very easy to get to the inner city with the train in about 20 Minutes.

It was an excellent location with all what you need. If you wish to stop in Koln without paying the green ticket this is the place.
